Recruit, Retain and Develop a Diverse Community
The purpose of this strategic goal is to assure that every school, college and unit—without exception—provides students, staff and faculty with equitable access, entry and opportunities for learning, development and advancement. Before creating campuswide action items aligned with this particular goal, DEI Planning Leads studied key indicators to assess differences in outcomes among the university’s many groups.
Not surprisingly, overall performance indicators varied greatly across campus units. Therefore, DEI-related efforts and initiatives also vary, reflecting the needs and goals of specific campus groups. The action items described here are designed to bolster and extend the work of all units by introducing effective, highly adaptable programs and procedures aimed at recruiting, retaining and supporting a diverse community.
